John is known state-wide for his expertise in probate and estate planning, trust administration, and elder law. John is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and, over a long and distinguished career, he has received accolades too numerous to mention, including election as a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel (ACTEC), serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Law School, receiving the Michael Irish Award for extraordinary contributions to the probate and estate planning practice in the State of Michigan and the George Cooney Award for outstanding contributions to continuing legal education in Michigan. He is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). John is a frequent lecturer and has published many scholarly treatises in his areas of practice. He has also been recognized continuously as among the “Best Lawyers in America”, “Super Lawyers”, and is listed in Who’s Who in American Law. John and his wife, Jay, have three children and five grandchildren, all of whom have joined them over the years for annual family trips in various places around the world.
