Congratulations to Katie Lynwood, who has been named to chair the Committee on Special Projects (“CSP”) for the State Bar of Michigan Probate & Estate Planning Council. The CSP is a working committee of the whole of the Section that considers and studies in depth a limited number of topics and makes recommendations to the Council of the Section with respect to those matters considered by the Committee. The duties of the Chair include setting the agenda for each Committee Meeting, and in conjunction with the Chair of the Section, to coordinate with substantive Committee chairs the efficient use of time by the Committee. Nancy Little has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for the 23rd straight year in the areas of Trusts and Estates, Real Estate, and Trusts and Estates – Litigation. Micki Pasteur has been recognized for the 9th straight year in the areas of Elder Law and Trusts and Estates. Congratulations to Micki and Nancy.

Katie Lynwood testified at a meeting for the Judiciary Committee of the Michigan House of Representatives in September 2017 and a meeting for the Judiciary Committee of the Michigan Senate in April 2018 regarding House Bill 4410 which is the issue of the In Re Jajuga, a Court of Appeals case decided effecting a child’s right to claim Exempt Property Allowance from their parent’s estate.
Ray Harris and Katie Lynwood presented at the Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s annual Probate Institute on Florida estates and estate planning. Katie did the presentation at the May sessions in Acme, Michigan, and Ray did the presentations at the June sessions in Plymouth, Michigan.
