John Bos

John was known state-wide for his expertise in probate and estate planning, trust administration, and elder law.  John was a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and, over a long and distinguished career, received numerous accolades, including election as a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel (ACTEC), serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Law School, receiving the Michael Irish Award for extraordinary contributions to the probate and estate planning practice in the State of Michigan, and was the first to receive the George Cooney Award for outstanding contributions to continuing legal education in Michigan. John was a frequent lecturer and published many scholarly treatises in his areas of practice. He was also recognized continuously in Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Who’s Who in American Law.

John was a brilliant attorney, legal mind, and a dear friend to many. He was generous with his time and mentorship, and in his sixty-year career he had a profound impact on Michigan’s legal community. We are so grateful for his dedication to the practice of law, willingness to share his experience, and the time we had with him over the years. He will be missed.

John is survived by his three children and five grandchildren. His wife, Jewel, predeceased him in 2023.
